Rope climbing is a very simple exercise; in fact, it is probably the simplest exercise you will come across. Rope climbing has been one of the favorite exercises of combat athletes all over the world for centuries. Many historians agree that rope climbing is one of the earliest forms of gymnastic equipment ever practiced with, and ancient ropes have been unearthed from several sites in Ancient Greece.

Even thousands of years ago, they knew that rope climbing was one of the most effective ways to strengthen the entire body and develop “real world” functional strength.

Nowadays, however, finding someone who is serious about rope climbing is about as easy as finding hen’s teeth. Part of the reason for this has been that high-quality rope set-ups are few and far between…

But with www.functionalhandstrength.com on the case, finding high-quality ropes will never again be a problem for serious athletes.

This is the place for the highest-quality manila indoor climbing ropes you can find, just like the ones you probably climbed back in gym class in grade school and just like the ones found in many of the turn-of-the-century gyms and gymnastic clubs. Now you can add rope climbing to your routine and watch your strength levels take off like a rocket. www.functionalhandstrength.com proudly reintroduces high-quality manila climbing ropes back into the strength training world.
Gymnasiums, top college and high school football programs, ROTC programs, gym classes, military bases, gymnastic clubs, wrestling teams, movie productions, rock climbing gyms, Crossfit gyms, musical performances and many others have come to us for the very best climbing rope in the industry.

Our indoor climbing ropes are made of superior-quality three-strand 1-1/2″ diameter pure “Grade A” manila fiber and come complete with specially designed steel eye-hooks on one end, making installation literally a snap. One thing you definitely do not want to skimp on is the quality of your climbing rope, especially if you’re 15 feet in the air.

Have a closer look at our climbing ropes in this gallery:
(Figure 1.) These natural manila fiber ropes absorb perspiration for the best grip and are extremely durable. An L-1 Quick Link carabiner is also included in each indoor manila rope order. These ropes have been tested to support over 1800 pounds so you can be sure of a safe and secure climbing experience every time you train. The steel climbing rope “clamp” has been especially designed for the most safe and secure attachment point possible.

(Figure 2.) The other end of our ropes comes wrapped in a “polyboot” designed to prevent fraying and unraveling, thus significantly extending the life of your rope under heavy use. This is especially important in team situations when ropes are under frequent use.

(Figure 3.) And in case you might be wondering, there are many different ways to train with ropes besides climbing…

Let’s say you don’t have a place to hang your rope. Due to the unique eye-hook construction, you can attach your rope to a high or low pulley in the gym, allowing you to perform some of the most effective exercises around.
We currently have five standard manila indoor climbing rope lengths available: 15, 18, 20, 22, and 24 feet.

Custom lengths ARE available. When choosing your climbing rope length our recommendation is to have at least four feet of “slack” beyond the distance between the attachment point and the floor – this makes it easier to get on and off the rope, as well as for spotters to prevent swinging. Our ropes are measured from the top of the metal fitting to the end of the polyboot.

If you need any other length besides what is listed here, just let us know – we can do any cut-to-order length that you might need for your gym. Keep in mind that if you would like to order a climbing rope longer than 24-feet there is another option that we would highly recommend. Please contact us for details.

Otherwise, we will be happy to put together any type of climbing rope that you might be looking for.

We offer two different climbing rope diameters: 1-1/2 and 2-inches thick. Please visit this page for more information.
Each Manila Indoor Climbing rope order comes with everything you see here: Black Steel attachment clamp, top-quality manila fiber rope in your chosen length, and a polyboot on the bottom to prevent unraveling. An L-1 link carabiner is also included for attachment purposes.

If you would like to order immediately, you may do so by clicking the red “order now” button above or by calling our customer service line at 1-800-978-0206. Otherwise, please keep reading below for more climbing rope details and options:
How much is your safety worth? After all, you can likely buy or find cheap manila rope at any number of places — the hardware store, the ship yard, the junk yard, or some other place like that. It may be “rope” in name, but it is certainly not rope specifically made for climbing and if you think it’s a good idea for climbing, you might want to think again. You have to ask yourself if sacrificing a few extra bucks in quality is really worth wondering about your safety (or someone you care about) while dangling 10-20 feet off the ground…

This is NOT a mistake you want to find out about “the hard way.”

I don’t know about you but I believe that every dollar which contributes to increased safety is a dollar well spent. This is one reason why our ropes are unabashedly more expensive than anything you will find at the local hardware store. The quality of the manila, the attachment hardware assembly, the polyboot on the end… every aspect was chosen and fashioned by trained experts with over 30 years experience who know how to make a top quality rope that will not let you down (literally). If you want “cheap” I suggest you click away and go elsewhere right now, these ropes are not for you …and we certainly wish you the best of luck.

Otherwise, if you want to climb the best ropes in the business, the safest and most dependable climbing ropes you can find, the ropes that are built tough and specifically designed for the best possible climbing experience… then your choice should be clear.

Our climbing ropes are manufactured one at a time by hand by a master ropesmith. In doing so, we have accepted no compromise for quality and safety for your ropes. As a result, please allow the necessary listed shipping time when anticipating the delivery of your order.

Our manufacturer generally ships rope within less than one week of order placement, but please allow at least for 10-14 business days for standard rope lengths or 14-24 business days for custom orders. All orders are shipped via UPS and we will provide tracking numbers by email as soon as your order is in the mail.

Please allow at least four days of transit time for west coast orders, 2-3 for all other locations. Expedited shipping may be possible in some cases at an additional cost.
Each indoor manila climbing rope comes with an L-1 Quick Link Carabiner. You will have to purchase attachment hardware separately if you would like to fasten your ropes to your ceiling. We currently have three different options for doing so based on your unique situation: I-Beam Clamp, Pipe Clamp Hanger, and Wood Beam Hanger.

The L-1 Link will fit on all of these options. If there are any specific questions as to which option to choose, we can make some very general suggestions but as for the specific ‘nuts and bolts,’ please contact a qualified contractor to make sure the rope is attached safely and correctly to the ceiling attachment point.

Climbing Rope Attachment Hardware and Accessories
If you have read this far, it means you are strongly considering our climbing ropes… and you should be. But before you make your final decision, there are a few other things I want to make sure you understand. First of all, there’s a good chance that you are buying these ropes if you run a gym or train athletes.

Our climbing ropes are very popular with colleges, high schools, gym classes, wrestling teams, ROTC programs, and military bases, among others.

Of course, you may also be buying a rope for home use either for yourself or your kids (or grand kids.)

Either way, safety and security is and should be the priority. Now, you may look at the cost of our climbing ropes and the first thing that crosses your mind may be “too expensive.” But keep in mind that the cost is a reflection of the quality and craftsmanship that goes into these ropes. Sure, there may be cheaper options out there… but why consider anything less than the BEST for even one single second?

Since safety is an issue, go with the highest-quality manila… secure attachment hardware… and the safest and most efficient choice for you and your athletes.

The bottom line is that you can make the choice to “shoot low,” while taking your chances with a cheaper product and “hope” that nothing goes wrong… or you can make the smarter choice and go with quality.

You owe it to yourself (and anyone else who may train under your watch) to go with the very best climbing ropes in the industry… and you can get yours right here!

Some Things to Consider When Ordering Ropes:

Manila Climbing Ropes are designed to be used and housed stored indoors. If you are looking for a rope that you can leave outside in the snow and rain, we recommend going with our PolyPlus Outdoor Climbing Rope. It is specifically built to withstand the elements and will last much longer if left outside.

Unless you are an experienced climber who is familiar with the increased difficulty level offered by 2-inch diameter climbing ropes, we STRONGLY recommend that you order our 1.5-inch diameter rope. 1.5″ is widely considered the standard diameter for climbing ropes and will provide more than enough challenge for any athlete.

Need a way to hang your new climbing rope? Click here to learn more about our rope attachment hardware selections.

Other than our five standard manila rope lengths, we have other custom options available. These include longer lengths, thicker ropes, different kinds of materials, attachment hardware, rest knots, etc. We also have tug-of-war ropes available. Please note that custom ropes will require a lead time of 24 business days, so plan accordingly.

If you are interested in any custom options, please contact us for details. Yes we have done all kinds of crazy rope items that people have dreamt up.

Custom rope orders must be paid IN FULL before they are shipped. NO EXCEPTIONS!
