A few weeks back we took at look at some great modern gyms, now lets step into the time machine and go back to a hundred years ago and see the kind of place where your great-great-great-great grandfather may have trained: Vintage Gymnasiums

m sending this one out to everyone since theres not a single person who wont benefit from what I am about to reveal.
You see, I like rewarding folks after-the-fact for taking action which means some of the people reading this will have the surprise at the end of this link coming in the mail as of this afternoon which is going to add a new dimension to their training. (Nice move.)
I also like taking a look at certain methods of training and grouping things together which "work" and sometimes that means unannounced bonuses...
In any case, now is the time for one of those bonuses, so without further hesitation, heres the link, check it out:

I have learned to expect the unexpected on a daily basis ~ and this morning brought something I never would have guessed. Since early this morning we had been getting a rush of traffic from MSN for the terms "grip and forearm training for rock climbers" but we couldn't figure out where it was coming from.
Finally, someone clued us in on what is going on.
This morning Microsoft unveiled a new version of their live search engine, something with what they call "hot spots" which contain relevant searches for the specific background image they feature.
In any case, our friends at MSN decided to kick things off with a rock climbing picture and functionalhandstrength.com is featured prominently -- see for yourself:

Go to www.live.com and mouse over the little guy on the right and you'll be taken to a search -- and we are the #1 result.
Needless to say this is quite an honor.
And, in an interesting coincidence, we have been getting quite a few recent notes asking for more information about grip training for rock climbing.
I have some more things to add but for right now if this is something that you are interested in learning more about, check out this page: Grip Training for Rock Climbers
... Yeah, It's good to be the lead dog...

As you might expect, I get a lot of questions sent my way. I am flattered that so many people look to me for advice and I thank everyone who has done so.
If you send in a customer service question you will receive a reply within the day or by the next business day if you send it after business hours.
If you send in a training question, it will go into a file and get answered either on the blog or the daily emails. I try to group similar questions together since that will help the most people at once although if we get a particularly good one I may answer it right away.
And yes, the line of training questions is quite long so dont fret if you do not get an answer right away.
That being said, there are a few steps that you can take to increase your chances of getting your questions answered:
1. First and probably most important of all if you do not include a real name with your question it is going to get deleted immediately and we do that for a couple reasons.
If you don't respect me enough to ask a question and include who you are like a normal human being, then do not expect me to take any of my valuable time in answering it. I mean, what would you do with something like this:
"Hey man, wut is the best grrrp exercise?"Oh yeah, and another thing, I make mistakes in my typing all the time but if your email looks like a drunken monkey wrote it, expect Shelby to hit the Delete button.
- Irondawg
We also find that people who do not use their real names in correspondence generally drop off our email list with greater frequency which means they weren't all that interested in being serious in the first place so you can see why we instituted this policy.
2. Second of all, we make great effort to provide as much information as we can on the website about our products and what is contained in each book and or dvd. Every single product is featured because I value it and know others would as well, so it's a bit "awkward" when someone asks something like:
"John, could you give me a workout out of the Keys to Progress so I dont have to buy it?"... seriously, who does this? This ain't no gravy train with biscuit wheels.
Thanx,
Jimmy T.
3. Third, if you are writing in to say you have some kind of mystery pain I feel for you, I really do but I'm affraid I can't help you.
Look at this from my perspective: I know a lot of things but I am certainly no doctor but even if I were, it would be impossible to diagnose you over the internet. So, if any kind of pain is involved, please look up a qualified physician.
4. Before you send in a question, it would be a very good idea to check the BLOG and/or use the search function. I've covered a lot of ground there as well as in our article section and most of my emails get posted in either of those two places. So, if you wanted a list of 21 exercises that you could do with Sandbags, you could check the Blog, for example:
BLOG
Just yesterday I wrote an email on weight vests over at my bodyweight site and sure enough, we got an email that same day asking about weight vests. A trip to the Bodyweight BLOG located over there would answer that question in short order.
5. I recommend our books and training dvds for good reason, they contain information in more detail than I could ever provide in any email. So if you write in asking for more information on a specific topic, I'm going to suggest a book or dvd on that specific topic, so it would be a very good idea to follow up there instead of wandering aimlessly.
Other than that, if you write in with a clear, concise email signed with your real name then it has a good chance of being answered.
All for now, more soon...
Train hard,
John Wood
