The Human Vise Does The Impossible Yet Again

No "Phonebook Popper" could ever dream of doing this...

When Pat "The Human Vise" Povilaitis tells me he just did "something" I know it's time to pay attention. Case in point, check out this message he sent me:

John,

Here's the pic I promised you. I was talking to Dennis Rogers when he was putting the finishing touches on his Phonebook-Tearing DVD. I've been doing double vertical tears (tearing a book into three strips) of some thick phonebooks as part of my shows for quite a while now and am always looking to step things up. I asked Dennis if he ever did a triple vertical tear (tearing a book into four strips) or knew of anyone who might have done it.

He told me he had never done it and had certainly never heard of anyone else even trying it, let alone doing it.

Inherently I knew I could do it so when I got off the phone I grabbed one of my normal books, right under two inches thick, smaller format (8" X 10-1/4") and did this for my dad who was watching. He asked what I was up to now and I said "history," as to my knowledge this had never been done legitimately before.

This took me right around a minute to accomplish, and I've been able to repeat this on multiple occasions, so needless to say this will be added to my show routine.

I also found that I could accomplish the double vertical tear (with a lot of pain and a touch of blood) while locked in handcuffs.

Goes to show you what determination and progression can accomplish. I always say, either be the best or learn from the best, but accept nothing less than the best. Enjoy the pic, and you'll see it in person or on video soon enough.

Pat

No one else on Earth can rip a phonebook like this

"Goes to show you what determination and progression can accomplish." That sums it up right there. No whining, no complaining, no stupid questions asked over and over again, just hard work and results. Certainly a lesson to be learned for all of us.

Train hard.

P.S. When Pat started, he couldn't even rip a small phonebook in half but now he is one of the best, if not the best in the world. Now you can learn to rip phonebooks exactly how Pat does from the man who taught him how to do it right. Get this how-to DVD right now: The Grip That Rips: Legitimate Phonebook Tearing How-To DVD.
