Question: How do Iron Mind hand grippers compare to all of those other hand grippers on the market? Why is it a superior product?

Answer:

The Captains of Crush Hand Grippers from Ironmind are recognized as the toughest and highest quality hand grippers on the planet which is why we are proud to feature them on www.functionalhandstrength.com. Ironmind is the most popular gripper manufacturer in the grip strength world, and for good reason. Founded in the late 80's, they quickly took the strength world by storm by creating a gripper that far surpasses the competition in quality and overall resistance.

When it comes to grip training equipment, The Captains of Crush Hand Grippers are known as the gold standard. They feature the toughest springs, aircraft quality aluminum and superior knurling and are the benchmark by which all other grippers are measured. You will simply not find a better hand gripper made anywhere. Don't settle for anything less for your training.

The legendary Captains of Crush hand grippers are made proudly in the USA and carry Iron Mind's trademark level of quality, precision, integrity, and superior construction. The world leader in grip training equipment for over 15 years, the history, quality, and time-tested reliability of the Captain of Crush Grippers are unmatched. Now available in ten graduated strengths to help you "climb the mountain" of hand gripper success one step at a time.

These grippers are the most heavy duty on the market. The gripper with the lowest resistance is our Guide gripper, with a resistance of 60 lb. Your average sporting goods store gripper is roughly 30-40 lbs of resistance. So right off the bat, you know that the Captains of Crush don't mess around.

All in all, we have ten different grippers to choose from. We have outlined the resistances here:

  • The Guide gripper - rated at 60 lbs. If you're new to hand strength, begin at the beginning with the Guide gripper, the youngest kid on the block and the welterweight of the family: let the Guide introduce you to the world of high-quality hand grippers at a more accessible level, about 60 lb. of pressure, which puts it at a little higher resistance level than the typical sporting goods store gripper, but with the quality and prestige of an authentic Captains of Crush Gripper. Follow the Guide as you begin your program of hand strength development.

  • The Sport gripper - rated at 80 lbs. For those already using their hand/wrist strength in their athletic endeavors, the Sport, at about 80 lb. of resistance, is the right place to start on the road to increased hand strength--substantial, but not overwhelming, a challenge, but not a roadblock. Grab the Sport to loosen up your hands and get the "clicks" out, as (#4 closer) Nathan Holle says, before you pick up your tennis racket, swing your golf club, wind your Scottish hammer, head out on the beat, or take part in a strongman tug-of-war. On your training days, have at it with the Sport to take your hand power up a notch and move you--and your athletic skills--up to a whole new level.

  • The Trainer gripper - Rated at 100 lbs. If you are ready for serious grip training and have reasonable strength in your hands, grab the Trainer @ 100 lb. to begin your hand gripper odyssey and work your way up through the ranks of our benchmark Captains of Crush Grippers Trainer through No. 4. Beginners will use the Trainer gripper to build the foundation for the serious grip work to come while more advanced men can always use it for warm-ups.

  • #1 gripper - Rated at 140 lbs. Get the #1 gripper to take the next step. This gripper usually stops most grown men cold but with a little practice and the right instruction, you'll be closing it in no time. (You didn't hear it from me but these grippers are also great for bar bets and chicks dig guys with strong hands.)

  • #1.5 gripper - The first of the "tweener" grippers. With 167.5 lbs of resistance, its the perfect gripper for helping you make the jump from the #1 to the #2 grippers.

  • #2 gripper - Rated at 200 lbs. When you make it to #2 gripper level, you know you are really getting somewhere. It doesnt matter if you can benchpress 400lbs, chances are the #2 gripper will stop you in your tracks. You will be lucky to find one man in a ten thousand who can close the #2 the first time he tries. Will you be one of them?

  • #2.5 gripper - Rated at 237.5 lbs, this gripper will bridge the gap between the #2 and #3 gripper.

  • #3 gripper - Rated at 280 lbs. The #3 gripper is the gold standard of hand gripper challenges. This gripper separates the men from the boys; close it and join your place among the grip elite. If you are a football player or combat athlete, having the ability to close this gripper will turn you into a real "monster." Do you have what it takes to challenge some of the strongest men on the planet? Only a select few have been able to close the Iron Mind #3 level gripper. If you can do it, you can add your name to very impressive list. Functional Hand Strength will show you how.

  • #3.5 gripper - Rated at 322.5 lbs of resistance. The "tweener" gripper for helping you get to the very top. A must have for those striving for greatness.

  • #4 gripper - Rated at 365 lbs. Closing the #4 gripper is the ultimate hand strength feat. This gripper is far beyond the reach of "normal" people and only those who are interested in an "unnatural" level of hand strength should think about buying it. Training to close this gripper will take a level of intensity and dedication that few people possess... but it can be closed, Joe Kinney proved that. Who's next?
