"How to Forge the Mind of A Champion"

Build mental toughness, erase stumbling blocks, develop confidence, gain desire and discipline... No matter what kind of athlete you are Wrestling Tough shows you how to develop the mental training methods to take you to the top of your game.

Dear Student,

The night before my first day of school in seventh grade I stayed up all night reading a biography of Amateur Wrestling Legend, Dan Gable from cover to cover.

As a result I realized right then and there that you can give yourself a huge advantage as long as you are willing to out think, out work, out fight and out hustle your opponent... just like Dan Gable did.

I knew from then on, that no matter what I did athletically, I would take my training to the limit.- while I may not have "won" every time, I was going to be damn sure nobody was going to train harder than I would.

Understand, I played football in high school but never wrestled, in fact my school never even had a wrestling team. For two years I tried to talk our bonehead athletic director into getting one going but no dice. Regardless, I have always understood the value of the ways wrestlers train and incorporated these methods into my own training program.

Stair running, up-downs, rope climbing, calisthenics - all great exercises and incredibly valuable if applied correctly in the program of every athlete.

Wrestling Tough by Mike Chapman
While these methods are top notch for building strength, stamina and conditioning the real key to putting them in your program is that exercises such as these build tremendous levels of mental toughness - an aspect of development that few athletes pay attention to.

You see, wrestling requires a special type of courage and committment. The long hours of drills, the weight cutting, and performing in front of hostile crowds are challenges that intimidate all but a special breed of athlete. Not to mention the sport's very essence: facing off against an opponet who wants to dominate you physically, destroy you emotionally and humiliate you mentally.

Wrestling Tough, the latest book from award-winning wrestling historian Mike Chapman, is a unique look at the "stuff" that has characterized the greatest competitors to ever take the mat. Chapman begins by examining the common links among wrestling champions through the ages. From there he takes an in-depth look at how and when these attitudes, thoughts and behaviors manifest themselves in the training room and in competition.

Even the best athletes and most successful coaches will find something new in this book to add to their skill-set. Let Wrestling Tough be your guide to a championship-level mind-set.
