Grip Training For Football

How Ten Digits Saved A Touchdown
Grip training for football is a subject that is near and dear to my heart. In fact, that is precisely what introduced me to this whole crazy world of hand strength in the first place. It should be obvious why strong hands are a vital component of every football training routine – and the routine of every athlete for that matter.

Regardless of how often this point is stressed there are still coaches and strength coaches out there who believe that “strong hands just aren’t that important” in their particular sport… I don’t know about you but I like having every advantage I can get and grip training is truly one of the “secret weapons” of the game.

Some people will never learn, others will and will prosper from it. To see just how important strong hands can be in the game of football, look no farther than this picture:

The only thing standing between the ball carrier and the goal line is ten digits. Of course, strong hands will not help you complete every single tackle but the stronger the grip a team has (collectively speaking), the greater likelihood tackles will be completed and the more completed tackles there are, the greater likelihood there is of success on the field.

I think that makes a pretty compelling argument…
